Weekly Green Wrap-Up – The Beauty, The Fashion & The Beat

by TheEcoDiva on August 20, 2010

As we wrap up the last few weeks of August thoughts turned to Autumn breezes, Fall fashions and of coarse school supplies. Here are some of my favorite scoops for the week of 8/16 to 8/20. What were some of your favorites?

The Beauty

You are what you eat! The tried and true philosophy that insists (along with many  health professionals, gurus and anyone who takes time to really take a look at what they’re eating) that anything you put into your body will effect the way you feel and the way you look. Find out why I love papaya for just that reason.

If you are on the search for certified organic makeup that really works, you’ll love my interview with the divas of Nvey Eco:

The Fashion

In 5 ways Teens Can Turn Green, we get a sense of just what this next generation of teenagers is thinking. I am inspired by the amazing environmentally conscious work that is creating a buzz all around the world. This list is a great way to start ‘em young. Oh, and the list was written by a teenager going green her very own self!

I introduced you to one of my favorite divas of fashion and style. Arlene Nilsson is the creator of the beautiful line of ethically made handbags called The Hemptress. Each bag is made using components of ultra eco-friendly hemp, repurposed/recycled leather trim and shipped in 100% post consumer waste boxes. Check it out HERE.

The Beat

I kicked off the latest Greenwala.com giveaway – here’s a bit from the review: In this visually beautiful story of a book, Bothered By My Green Conscience, Franke walks us through her journey to bringing her vision to fruition. As I read this book, I laughed, was bothered, got motivated and was entertained by one woman’s journey to green.

I couldn’t help but love this heart-warming story about a pit bull with a big heart. This breed of dog has gotten a pretty bad rap over the years. But as someone once said, there are no bad dogs, only bad (read: careless, angry, misguided) owners. Enjoy!
