This weekend, as the outside temperature plummets to below 50 degrees {F} my thoughts turn to all things warm. This includes my crucial eco-friendly winter accessories, my recycled soft scarf, my handmade wool gloves and my {faux} furry boots. So, it is fitting that as I scoured the chock-full pages of Etsy.com, my eyes spotted and landed on this great artisan making one-of-a-kind upcycled wool leg-warmers with a very funky twist.
Here are some juicy tid-bits about the EcoDiva artisan chosen this week:
“I’ve always been a girly girl. I love flowers, sparkly things, color, frills and handmade details. With La Jolie Femme de Marron, I portray an image that’s dolled-up, yet funky and edgy at the same time. Think Ava Gardner meets Avril Lavigne. I hope that when ladies wear my little creations they feel like rock star princesses.
How did I become so enamored with felting?
I received a bachelor’s in fine arts from a private art school in the Midwest. Afterwards, I worked for a few years in design, branding, interiors and architecture. My passion for interior fabrics led me to a brief dip in the fabric industry, where I was introduced to the felt work of Hella Jongerias and Claudy Jongstra. I fell in love with the ancient technique of felting and decided to immerse myself in it. I am always looking for new and interesting ways to felt beautiful things for girls to wear.. things that will differentiate the special ladies from the rest of the crowd.”
