That Clean Fresh Smell
For many many years, like the rest of us I associated a certain smell with clean laundry. I can still smell it as I walk around the hills of my neighborhood. It’s that smell, you know that chemically, flowery smell that we was sold to us by a little fluffy bear, or a T.V. soccer mom frustrated with grass stained pants. As far as we knew, there was only ONE way to get those nasty stains gone and out of our uber clean and nifty lives..CHEMICALS!!!

The Bad News
Well now we know so much more. Conventional laundry detergents contain known toxins such as phenols, optical brighteners and ammonia.

This is just a very short list of the known harmful health and environmental toxins. Just ammonia alone is associated with burns, cataracts & corneal damage. Long term repeated exposure can cause bronchitis and pneumonia; not to mention that it has a toxic effect on plants, animals and fish.

The Good News
Now that we’re on the same page in terms of what is BAD. Let’s take a look at an amazing alternative with a cute name that you won’t forget – EcoNuts. Here is a bit about the company in their own words:

Eco Nuts® are completely sustainable dried fruit shells that come from the Sapindus mukorossi tree in Nepal, India and Indonesia. The ones we harvest come from high up in the Himalayas and are the highest quality “soap nut” on the market. These fruit shells have been used in India and China for centuries, and are now gaining popularity in America and Europe as a renewable, biodegradable and organic alternative to chemical  detergents and expensive “Green” laundry soaps.

Eco Nuts® \ contain saponin, a natural cleaner that works as a surfactant, breaking the surface tension of the water to penetrate the fibers of your clothing, lifting stains from the fabric and leaving dirt suspended in the water that is rinsed away.

Eco Nuts® are gentle on both clothes and skin, making them ideal for those with sensitive skin, eczema, allergies and psoriasis. Because they are so mild, they are perfect for baby clothes and cloth diapers. The antimicrobial properties of Eco Nuts® also make them great for septic and grey water systems. But don’t expect these shells to foam up like commercial soaps, which have artificial foaming agents. Foam simply does not represent cleaning power.

Here is your chance to win a 50 nut box of EcoNuts and try this amazing little natural and powerful soap nut for yourself.

Yep, that dreadful smell of carcinogens being pumped out of dryer vents. And not just walking through the neighborhood, but having to stand next to someone who has washed their clothes that way. Instant headache. Not to mention what it does to the oceans and earth…. Thanks for spreading the word on alternatives!!
